After years of red tape, 9/11 Pentagon Memorial visitor education center breaks ground
A new visitor education center has broken ground at the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial, honoring the 184 victims of the 2001 attack. The center, set to open in 2029 after years of navigating land and funding issues, will feature ten exhibits detailing the stories of victims, first responders, and military and civil leaders. The project is overseen by Joe Kornhof, who was a student during the attack and now serves as executive director of the Pentagon Memorial Fund.
The new education center aims to educate future generations about the impact of the 9/11 attacks, particularly as a growing portion of the population was not alive during the events.
