PRIVACY POLICY
VideoNewsLive is operated by Acentro Systems LLC (“VideoNewsLive,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). We run a news aggregation website that surfaces publicly available video news from third-party platforms, adds short AI-generated summaries, and sends an optional email newsletter.
This Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal information collected through videonewslive.com and our newsletter (together, the “Service”).
Notice at collection for U.S. state privacy rights: see Your privacy rights below.
The short version
We collect an email address if you subscribe to the newsletter, and standard web server logs when you visit. We use Google Analytics to measure how the site is used. That is nearly all of it. We do not sell or share personal information, we do not run advertising, and we do not send your personal information to AI providers.
Personal information we collect
Information you provide to us
- Newsletter data. Your email address, the news categories you select, and where you signed up from. We also record when you confirmed the subscription and when you unsubscribed.
- Account data. If you have a staff or administrator account, your email address and a hashed password. Reader accounts are not offered.
- Communications data. Anything you send us when you contact us by email, including your message and your email address.
We do not collect payment information, government identifiers, precise geolocation, or the categories of sensitive personal information defined under U.S. state privacy laws.
Information collected automatically
- Server and edge logs. IP address, user agent, referring page, requested page, and timestamp, recorded by our application server and by our CDN.
- Session data. If you sign in to a staff account, we store the IP address and user agent associated with that session so we can show and revoke active sessions.
- Email engagement data. Aggregate delivery and open information reported by our email provider.
- Analytics data. Google Analytics collects the pages you visit, the page you came from, your device and browser type, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and identifiers stored in its cookies. See Cookies and tracking technologies below.
Information from third parties
We collect video metadata (titles, descriptions, view counts, transcripts, and similar) from YouTube and other public sources. This is information about publicly posted videos and their publishers, not about you as a reader.
Cookies and tracking technologies
We use a strictly necessary cookie to keep you signed in if you have a staff account. We also use Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies to distinguish visitors and measure how the Service is used. Google processes analytics data on our behalf as a service provider; we do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels, and we do not permit third parties to use the Service to advertise to you or to build profiles of you for their own purposes.
You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking its cookies in your browser. Blocking analytics does not affect reading the site.
Two other third-party interactions are worth calling out:
- Video thumbnails are loaded directly from Google’s image servers, so your IP address and user agent are visible to Google when a page loads.
- Video players are embedded from youtube-nocookie.com and load only after you click play. Once you do, YouTube receives your IP address and may set its own cookies under Google’s privacy policy.
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” or a Global Privacy Control signal. We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, so there is nothing for these signals to switch off there. As an extra measure, we do not load Google Analytics at all when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.
How we use personal information
- Service delivery. To operate the website, send the newsletter you asked for, authenticate staff accounts, and respond to your messages.
- Service improvement. To understand aggregate traffic patterns, including through Google Analytics, diagnose errors, and improve the ranking and presentation of the Service.
- Security and compliance. To detect and prevent abuse, protect the Service, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with law.
We use large language models to summarize and classify videos. Only video metadata and transcripts are sent to those providers. We do not send reader personal information to AI providers, and we do not use your personal information to train AI models.
How we share personal information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising, as those terms are defined under U.S. state privacy laws. We disclose personal information only to:
- Service providers who process it on our behalf under contract: our hosting and CDN providers, our email delivery provider, our error monitoring provider, and Google, as the provider of Google Analytics.
- Professional advisors, such as lawyers and accountants, where reasonably necessary.
- Authorities and other parties, where we believe disclosure is required by law, or is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of any person.
- A successor, in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets. Any successor would be bound by this Privacy Policy or would notify you of a change.
Retention
We keep newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe, and for a short period after that so we can honor the unsubscribe. Server logs are retained for up to 30 days. Google Analytics retains visitor-level data for up to 14 months. Staff account records are kept for as long as the account is active. We may keep information longer where required by law or to establish or defend legal claims.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, which takes effect immediately. You can also email us at support@videonewslive.com.
- Access, correction, and deletion. Email us at support@videonewslive.com and we will handle your request as described below.
- Opt out of analytics. Use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or block analytics cookies in your browser.
- Blocking cookies and images. Your browser can block cookies and remote images. Blocking our session cookie will prevent staff sign-in but does not affect ordinary reading.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, U.S. state privacy laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act, the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, the Colorado Privacy Act, and similar statutes may give you the right to:
- know what personal information we have collected about you, and why
- request a copy of that information in a portable form
- correct inaccurate personal information
- request deletion of your personal information
- opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, and certain profiling
- be free from discrimination for exercising these rights
We do not sell or share personal information, we do not use it for targeted advertising, and we do not use it for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects, so there is nothing to opt out of. The other rights are available to you regardless of where you live: just email support@videonewslive.com from the address you want us to act on, and we will verify your request by replying to that address. You may use an authorized agent, in which case we will ask for proof of authorization. We respond within the time required by applicable law, generally 45 days. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our response, and we will explain the outcome.
Nevada residents may direct us not to sell covered information. We do not sell it.
Other sites and services
The Service links to videos, channels, and articles operated by third parties. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their privacy practices. Read their policies before using them.
Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit and hashed passwords. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your information.
International users
We are based in the United States and process personal information there. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live. The Service is directed to a U.S. audience and is not offered to individuals in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. If the changes are material, we will update the effective date above and post a notice on the Service. Continuing to use the Service after the effective date means the updated policy applies.
