Mid-air scares leave passengers on edge
Multiple mid-air incidents caused passenger distress this week. On a Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to Tunisia, severe turbulence forced the pilot to divert after three landing attempts. Separately, a Qatar Airways flight from Australia to Qatar saw two men restrained with zip ties and handcuffs after a physical altercation that included headbutting and spitting on a crew member, with one man allegedly claiming to have a gun. An American Airlines flight from Dallas to Newark was diverted after a passenger allegedly yelled slurs and became physical with others, leading to him being duct-taped to his seat.
These incidents highlight ongoing challenges in maintaining passenger and crew safety during air travel, particularly concerning disruptive behavior and extreme weather.
