Norway's royal succession

King Harald V of Norway died on August 28, 2026. His son, now King Haakon VIII, took an oath before parliament on September 1, and the nation began paying its final respects to the late king, who lay in state at the Palace Chapel. King Harald V's funeral was held on September 9.
