BRICS 2026: Modi Seeks Bigger Role For Global South
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the BRICS summit, proposing a new agenda for the next 20 years and advocating for a greater role for the Global South in global decision-making. He suggested establishing a BRICS continuity and implementation mechanism to track initiatives and outcomes, and a secure repository for decisions. Modi also called for jointly formulating ten proposals for global governance reform to create a BRICS reform roadmap by the next summit.
Modi's proposals aim to shift the balance of power in global governance, giving developing nations a more significant voice and stake in international policy and decision-making processes.
