Inside Meta’s Plan to Catch OpenAI & Anthropic
Meta is planning to launch a new AI agent capable of performing actions for users across various services like DoorDash, Etsy, and Outlook. The agent is expected to be released in late August or early September and will be powered by Meta's new Spark models. The company is also exploring a tiered pricing system for these AI products, potentially charging consumers directly, which represents a shift from its traditional advertising-based revenue model.
This move signifies Meta's strategic pivot towards developing subscription-based AI services as a new business alongside its advertising empire, aiming to recoup AI investment and explore new revenue streams.
Meta is also targeting an October release for a new AI model internally codenamed 'watermelon,' likely an iteration of its Muse Spark family.
